1.On average, how many servings of fruit do your kids have a day?
2. Veggies? And whats liked.....
3. Sweets?
4. Straight water?
5.Besides painting/coloring/play dough, what things do your kids love doing in the house?
6. How much TV do they watch a day? (be honest)
my answers....
1. a lot
2. Leah eats salads and carrots. Asher eats everything along with Maya but they certainly don't get it every meal.
3. I'm a HUGE sweet tooth so its hard not to let everyone indulge but I have been better lately, no body has to know about the pop tarts they just ate.....
4. Asher loves water. Leah hates water but will drink it occasionally. Maya drinks anything.
5. Watching TV, making messes
6. They are couch potatoes. Its my fault, I let them. But Leah came up to me today and told me all about the life cycle of sea crustaceans, it was actually factual....I asked her where she learned it and she said...Noggin. So I may or may not feel so bad.
Lets hear it....

I am so glad that my kids aren't the only couch potatoes!
Good questions, and I'm anxious to hear the answers you get.
1. I would say about two. More if I have recently been to the store.
2. Probably about the same. Two, usually with dinner. I also told them they could eat raw veggies (carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, cucumbers) anytime without asking. That worked well for about a week, then they got sick of it.
3. Always trying to cut back.
4. We do milk for one meal and water for the others, and snacks. Rarely, we do juice or lemonade. I'm just cheap.
5. Making "forts,"
6. I tell them 2 shows a day. Sometimes 3. But I am also trying to keep the tv off during the day. I love Noggin, so they will probably get 3 out of me if they watch Noggin. Or something on DVR with no commercials.
Great fun questions!
1.Tons and Tons of Fruit
2.At least some veggie's daily, but I am sure it isn't as much as they are supposed to have. And whatever Veggies they are eating will have cheese, ranch, or some other sauce all over them!
3. Well, Kai and I just got back from Dairy Queen so I am quessing we eat WAY too many sweets.
4. They will drink it from the hose or a water bottle.
5. They read, write stories, video themselves and fight!
6. Well, since we got rid of cable for the move almost none, but before that WAY TOO MUCH, but I got a lot done! I guess it is a trade off!
This was a fun break from preparing the house for movers! Thanks!
oh Danae! Good luck with the move...Im so excited for you to be close to family again for awhile....then Nebraska calls...wink :) no but seriously....
1- About 3
2- 2-3 (they honestly love most veggies...I can't think of one that they have hated.)
3- They love them but rarely get them. I never (unless road tripping or special occasion) give them fruitsnacks or anything like. We will usually have a dessert after dinner.
4- My girls are milk drinkers for meals but water for anything else throughout the day. If they have juice with a meal, I usually mix 1 part juice with 1 part water.
5- My girls spend a lot of time playing in their toy kitchen or playing dress ups. We also love board games, flash cards, reading books. And i know you said "besides" but we do color almost every day.
6- only 2-3 shows, depending on how early they wake up. TV is usually off by 8am. (and I am being honest....it sounds like I am NAZI but it really looks worse written than it really is)
7- Not that you asked for this but also wanted to include that we spend a good chunk of time outside. I try to take them to a park every day, but I also force them into our backyard for some of the day as well.
ok, i'm not doing a list but here goes...
we eat tons of veggies (hello! head honcho #2 is a vegetarian!!)
we only drink water after breakfast. love that rule!
harley and marshall cannot watch more tv than they practice piano. gracie is a major couch potato. i rationalize by saying it's all gonna end in that fall:)
btw... she recited the planets in order at dinner tonight. apparently "zula patrol" has been doing my job for me:)
your lucky you can get your kids to eat veggies. I think I pretty much refused to eat anything but sugar and I didn't start liking veggies until I was in my twenties! I'd say you're doing well:) Hopefully my future kid is better than I was with its eating habits.
1. I don't know how much counts as a serving, but Lincoln LOVES fruit. He'd totally eat a whole cantaloupe in one sitting if i let him. Same goes for most any other fruit. I have to slow him down.
2. He once ate an entire package of edamame in one sitting. Also loves corn, cucumbers, asparagus, broccoli stems, frozen peas.
3. He gets potty treats (ex: two jellybeans for going #1, a dum-dum lollipop for going #2.) Other than that, not much.
4. Good little water drinker, doesn't drink much milk though.
5. Running laps around the sofa, legos, cars, trains, balls, pretending to be a puppy, cooking with me, washing dishes.
6. I'm so embarrassed about this one! He probably watches like three hours every day. I'm dying as I write that. He watches a show as I get ready in the mornings and then usually while I'm nursing otherwise he's jumping all over us. Not good.
Nothing to be embarrassed about Crystal! I'm sure I have you beat. I'm sure Kalia must watch at least 4 hours a day of combined Diego, Dora, and Barney. It is the only thing that will keep her out of my hair. Even then, she's still running over to me to try to get me to interact with her. She doesn't have many toys, and doesn't entertain herself very well at this age. I wish we had a yard I could just send her out to. Someday. As for the other questions. (Sorry, only one child to report on and not good answers) Not much fruit (except bananas) Not many vegetables (unless they're in a soup...then MAYBE) Not many sweets except at church. She does take 3 types of gummy vitamins, and she thinks those are treats. Kalia drinks a little water here and there, but she's a big milk drinker (16-24 oz a day) and usually gets a cup of apple juice once a day too. Straight. I don't water it down. Don't really care. I think that pretty much covers it.
1. Anna would eat as many fruits as I would give her...I'm not so great at keeping them stocked!
2. Usually 1-2..Corn is the favorite. Also included are green beans, peas, broccoli (when she goes to a restraunt!)
3. I don't usually care too much if they have sweets...unless I start to notice just how many they are really having...
4. Anna likes milk with her meals, except with her cereal! She eats her cereal dry. She usually drinks water other times in the day.
5. Slip n Slide
6. Anna would watch it ALL day if I'd let her, seriously! Let's see...she watches a good hour or more in the morning and the same at night. Usually gets some in during the afternoon too! Last night she got mad cuz I only let her watch one show! She didn't like the show she was watching, but she knew it was the only time she'd be able to watch one...so she just dealt with it.
--Fruits? Not enough (maybe 1 a day)
--Veggies? One or two--likes? corn, green beans, peas, asparagus, carrots (always offered at dinner), broccoli (cooked for C and raw for T), artichokes
--Sweets? Colin always thinks it's time for a treat. We rarely have dessert but the kids like to snack on graham crackers (I don't consider them sweets but some might). We went to a b-day party two weeks ago and the hostess was expecting a large crowd...well, only about four kids showed up so we had to divide the 10 lbs of pinata candy somehow.... If you want bubblegum, we've got it! Warheads? Yep! Lemonheads? For sure!). Colin's gone crazy with the candy.
--Water? Not much at all....
--Playing? Legos, board games (Hullabaloo by Cranium is a great game that they can play on their own--one or more players-- without any adult help!!! It keeps Colin happy for a long time), Colin loves to collect "potato bugs" and put them in an ice cream bucket. But really, the thing he /they do most is....
TV? During the school year, the TV turns on after Tyler goes out to catch the bus and is on until he returns in the afternoon and has to start homework. When homework is finished, if I"m in a good mood I'll let him watch some TV. :)
1. At least 1-2 a day. Andi loves apples and grapes and mangos!
2. Carrots, corn, beans, and broccoli are her fav's.
3. Absolutely! Bribing works well with Andi so dum-dums and gum are her fav's. But I have a HUGE sweet tooth so she's not deprived of them at any rate. But I'm really trying to make healthy treats with her now, our favorite right now is frozen mandarin oranges. Seriously they're so good, even Kevin eats them up!
4. Andi drinks at least 20 ounces (half her body weight) in water a day and then milk at breakfast and dinner. We rarely drink juice but when we do I mix it 1:1.
5. We "play school" and Andi does "homework". She loves it and she is learning so much. She likes to write letters in her name, she thinks it's cool and so do I. Other things like puzzles, books, play dough, and cooking with me. I also make her fold clothes and clean with me. She does a pretty good job, she thinks is fun and is proud of herself, love it! We also read A LOT. Every time I nurse Adella we read books, I figure it's good for both of them and it keeps her from getting in trouble!!
6. She usually watches about an hour a day of PBS. In the afternoon if it's to cold to go outside she'll watch a movie. In the winter she watches a lot of movies... But we're not big tv watchers, it could be days before
we change the channel from PBS!!
