Only of 2007. This year flew by. The good, the bad, the fun, the not so fun, its all in the past now. I am excited for whats to come in the year ahead.
We start by flying back to Virginia on Friday. I am very sad and happy at the same time. Saying goodbyes to everyone is the worst part. But once that is over with and I have balled my eyes out at the airport things get better...much better. Our own beds, washer and dryer, couches to lounge, blankets to snuggle, I get happy thinking about it.
Thank you to all of our family who housed us so nicely, watched our kids, loved us (me) when I was a complete witch. I love you all.
Thank you to all of our friends, seeing your beautiful faces and gorgeous kids, whether it be in person or on the computer, I love you all too.
Our time in Utah is almost over....I am just about to head to Cafe Rio for a chicken salad, shop for wedding dresses with my sisters, to the UPS store to send 2 huge boxes of clothes and toys home, and pack pack pack.
Happy New Year! I know mine will be.

So much time, so little to do....
"Wait, scratch that, reverse it." ~Willy Wonka.
3 more days....3 MORE DAYS! I guess I will be even more excited tomorrow and the next.
The U.S.S. Enterprise has made it to U.S. shores. Paul called me yesterday from Florida as they had pulled in to drop the air wing off and pick up 1500 family and friends of the sailors to ride the rest of the way home to VA. They do what is called a Tiger Cruise on the last bits of the deployment where each sailor can have someone come out and get the "real" Navy experience.
Yuck. No thanks. I wouldn't want to go near a boat that has been in the heat of the Persian Gulf with out air conditioning for 5 months and 5,000 smelly sailors! He gets home on Wednesday morning and then flys out here Thursday morning. We'll spend 2 weeks over the Holidays and head back to Norfolk...very bittersweet.
Until then, here is a list of what needs to be accomplished:
-Finish Christmas shopping so I can relax when Papa gets here....done
-Organize all of my accumulated junk to send home....not done
-Dr. appointment....not done
-Blood work....not done
-Re-register the van in VA....done
-Book a hotel....done
-Oil change...not done
-Purchase a scantily clad negligee...ugh not done
-Wax my upper lip, under arms, and other unmentionable areas.....not done
-Hair cut...not done
-Hair color...not done
I best be gettin my lazy behind off this chair and get to work!

Leah turns Threeah.
I wasn't going to post all these pics of Leah but they were too hard to narrow down. I love this little being. (Even though sometimes I want to sale her). Thinking back to 3 years ago makes my heart warm. She is my favorite little miss.
Happy Birthday Leah. I wouldn't want you any other way. Thanks for being the best daughter, sister, friend, cook, imagineer, hair doer, etc... around! Just remember I gave you Island Barbie and Prince Antonio for your birthday....so don't keep asking Santa for it.....besos.

Cowboys and Vegas
Here is how it went;
2 nights at Tahiti Village...Surprisingly a very nice hotel for what we paid.
1 day full of team roping....Way to go dad! It is so fun to watch him at what he loves.
3 hours at the factory stores....pregnant Jaesi's and shopping don't mix.
2 hours at Cowboy Christmas Expo...where Asher was outfitted in his new cowboy gear.
2 lovebirds......and quite a bit of time in the jacuzzi at the hotel (we kept an eye on them;)
500+ beautiful horses....I love to see them in the stalls having conversations and watching everything.
2,795 wrangler butts....when the NFR hits town, that's all you see.
4 Cheeseburgers, 4 french fries, 4 sodas, 1 strawberry and 1 chocolate shake...In &Out, I didn't eat it all but I probably could have.
It was a great weekend. I was the usual pregnant party pooper and Grinch, but Leah has already informed me that I was the Grinch for Christmas anyway.

Will you?....Yes!!!
Hooray! A BIG CONGRATS to my sister Lyndsi who is engaged to Nate Clements!!! We are sooooooo excited for this! Nate is Melissa (Clements) Gladwells younger brother, and for years we have said how awesome it would be if one of our siblings got married. Im pretty sure Melissa and I might be just as happy as Nate and Lyndsi. Wedding plans are set for March! After a 6 year wedding dry spell in our family we CANT WAIT! They are such a cute couple and I especially love how Nate is about 2 heads taller than Lyndsi. :)

"Im just cutting.."
Once again as I sit at the computer and *research* I turn around and find Leah in this exact pose. Notice the orange ones around her neck. Asher wasnt at the scene of the crime but he was the scissor handler in all this. "We were just cutting."
The scissors have been safely placed out of sight so please dont report me to Child Services. Thank you and have a nice day.

Many Thanks Melessa Style
As you all know there are millions of things to be thankful for and naming them could take all day. I am going to use my 6th grade English and write a poem.......
MELESSA
M-Mothers. That I have one, That I am one. Love them all...Grandmas, Mother in laws too.
E-Eggs. Not the real kind, the chocolate kind. The Cadburry eggs are back for Christmas and oh so good. They also have the mini eggs...except they are little balls but taste every bit as good.
S- Steven Paul. Oh I love this man so. Enough said.
S- Sounds. Laughing, singing, squealing, animals, music, water....
A- Asher. Another obvious. I also love his name and that I got to name him. I love that he rides on barbie cars and eats anything I put in front of him.

E- Email. I love being able to stay in contact instantly with my love. And I love cracking up at funny fowards.
L- Leah. This is obvious. First, I love her name and that I got to name her. I love her crazy personality and that I am doomed either Fairy Godmother or Evil Stepmother of the day, everyday.E-Eggs. This is what went down....
Really this is going to be pretty comforting for one person (Krystal T.). I figure after 6+years of dental school for you and your fam you are going to like what I say next....
Leah, one month shy of 3 years went to her dentist appointment today. 3 filled cavities and one silver capped molar later....I'm only in about 400$!!! And that was only the 20% I had to pay.
So lets add this up.....40 minutes in the chair+400$= A WHOLE LOTTA MONEY A MINUTE!
I'm thinking we chose the wrong line of work dear, I just paid for Christmas for the Dr. Scholzen family. (Who by the way is a g-reat pediatric dentist in the area)
And if I think about it, I paid for Leah, Asher, Jaesi, Paul and baby M.'s Christmas as well! I guess I'm all done Christmas shopping...A good day I guess.
Asher's next......

This ol' baby or is it belly....?
Alrighty....hows this for being HUGE! I lost track of how many weeks I am now but somewhere around 5 months.
But its time...time to break out the big clothes, trouble is I didnt bring any of my maternity clothes out here (secretly wishing I could wait till I got back) but that aint happening! Pants are killing me. The old elastic around the button isnt doing the trick anymore and I need some relief. I need a good pair of maternity jeans. Cute, flattering (ha), and most importantly comfortable!! Anyone have any advice on where to get some or stores they have had success?
And cravings?!!! this by far is the craziest(other than soap) I have had....Sushi and every kind of it. I have never liked it....ever! But in the past week I have eaten it 3 times. I know technically it isnt "healthy" to eat but man does it taste good. Even the gross little orange fish eggs get my mouth watering and no matter what time of day it sounds good. California roll anyone?

another funny.....

DO YOU EAT CHOCOLATE?
We were raised on chocolate as kids and even into adulthood. I will never eat it again. I hope from now on you will throw yours away whenever you are given any . It seems as though nothing is safe to eat anymore.
This is what happens when you eat chocolate! This is a warning, show this to everyone you care about.
It could happen to you......or them.

family trip 101
On a whim, I went up to Provo Monday with my kids to see some friends from Virginia. It was a quick fun trip but let me share the things I learned with you....
The Dont's
~Don't let your kids drink diet coke all day long.
~Don't give them cotton candy in the backseat to shut them up.
~Don't wait to the last minute (11 at night) to get a hotel cause you will pay a pretty price.
~Don't buy a 12 dollar barbie at the mall, it will just get lost.
The Do's
~Do eat at The Happy Sumo in Provo or is it Orem?
~Do take pictures of your kids asleep to remind you that they really are angels disguised as devils.
~Do take a car with good gas mileage.
~Do take some good music with you. My choice....Brooks and Dunn and Primary Colors
~Do make sure to have 2+ boxes of wet wipes with you at all times. (cotton candy)

Picture of a million words.

We truly take a lot for granted. Forget the football "heroes" and movie "stars".
Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you,
Jesus Christ and the American Soldier
One died for your soul;
the other for your freedom.
I dont know why but this really got me this morning as I was looking at my emails.
Pretty cool.

Smell My Feet!
Jaesi-After a night of walking around the neighborhood in witches boots my feet did stink...and hurt. Candy of choice...baby ruths
Leah-Why princesses feet never stink of course! Candy of choice...skittles
Asher-Do dogs feet stink? Their breath does. Thank goodness for the suckers to mask the smell. Candy of choice...suckers
Bryna-This little cheerleader was all smiles...but sadly her tennis shoes didn't smell to good either. Candy of choice...fruit roll ups
Alexis- Skeletons just have bones. No smells here. Candy of choice...M&Ms
Leah woke up this morning and said "We are going Trick or Treating again tonight, right?" I think we all had a great time.

these are the days of my life....

This picture of Leah CRACKS me up.
So since today was sort of a significant day lets take a stroll down memory lane...
20 years ago.....Just turned 6. wrote all over my hands who I loved, won the jump rope competition in my first grade class, and had just started my collection of porcelain dolls.
10 years ago....Just turned 16. sulked all night cause my "crush" didn't call, drove a SWEET white Buick Le sabre, and knew every single song and words of Celine Deon and Savage Garden.
5 years ago.....Just turned 21. My dad could now officially call me his married daughter, helped in the straightening process of about every pre-teens teeth in St George working at Dr. Princes, and living in the most ghetto apartments available in St. George.
3 years ago.....Just turned 23. Living in Charleston, SC, About as fat as a milk cow pregnant with Leah, and attending the oh so fabulous "Academy of Cosmetology" for esthetics's. (I'm talking strip mall type of school in between a Blimpie and Check City.)
1 year ago.....Just turned 25. Mom of 2 now, staying with family in St George while hubby is deployed, and my idea of a good time was put the babies to bed early and shop for kids clothes.
Today...... Oh wait.....Its the same, just throw another year and a kid into the mix. Wow....I have accomplished a lot...;)

Make the cut!
Things that didn't make the cut,
~When people don't change the toilet paper roll. Apparently it is hard to change it around here.
~Tonight at dinner the people next to us kept snapping their fingers at the waitress to get her attention.
~My stomach feeling like its grown 2 inches today.
~The dryer that was broken for over a week.
~The hole in my pant pocket I always forget about.
~Fevers in little kids.
Things that did make the cut;
~The hairbows I bought for my girls (I love to say girls) at the What Women Want Expo. They were too cute.
~Big huge soft sugar cookies with frosting and m&ms.
~The weather today.
~Family in town from a far.
~When Leah plays "Asher" and Asher plays "Leah" they really get into character.
~Breakfast for dinner. (Village Inn) mmmmm.

Sugar and Spice and everything nice....
That's what little GIRLS are made of.
Once again my feelings were wrong. I was totally thinking boy but this little addition is a girl!
We are soooo excited! Leah especially. She has named her Carla?! Who knows where that came from. And Asher is just going to be smashed in the middle of all things girly. Which isn't bad.
We have been thinking Maya forever but now I really have no clue...there are just too many cute girl names. Send cute ones my way....

Am I weird?
Laurin tagged me...
1. Lets just say I (or my parents) have probably paid in dental bills, my dentists house, cars, and retirement plan. Dentures someday???
2. When I was little I would chew potato chips and crackers up and then spit them out onto another chip or cracker like a dip...and sometimes I still do....
3. I HATE belly buttons. Just thinking about them makes me queasy. This is funny because both of my kids have a strange fascination with theirs. Its a comfort object for them...ew!
4. I have always hated to write with pencils. I think its the smell and sound.
5. Shaving is a pain in the rear end for me. I never do it. weeks...months...it doesnt matter.
I actually did get my under arms lasered but need to finish the treatments again...
6. I LOVE LOVE LOVE country music...always have, always will. And Paul has finally jumped on the horse too.
7. I think the psychic Silvia Brown is absolutely ridiculous but I will still watch her every Wednesday on Montel Williams.
8. I do not like warm foods. Namely cookies...bread...brownies...pizza.. It has to be cool or room temperature. On most things I actually prefer them cold.
Lindsey Terry, Danae West, and Annie Nelson...consider yourself tagged!

My Unsuccessful Quest
I had my doctor appointment this morning and I thought I was scheduled for an ultra sound so of course I was so excited for this. Telling all family and close friends that I would find out.
Apparently I misunderstood and there was no ultra sound. I guess here in St George you have to schedule at the imaging department and the hospital to get one. How was I supposed to know that? Bummer. Even Paul called on the expensive, crappy reception phones on the ship just to be bummed out to. (Sorry dear)
As far as the appointment and this little one inside me, everything is great. I am 18 weeks and feeling and looking like it now. It all ended well with a scheduled ultrasound next week and a Toms Deli turkey and pastrami on rye....

Farmer in the Dell
Let me just take a minute to tell you how much I love this little man. Asher is seriously the funnest little monkey on the planet. I know for a fact that he is in heaven out here. From sun up to sun down every single day he is outside down at the corrals doing "boy things"
He will scream bloody murder if the front door is locked so he cant escape. I am a little worried how he will react when we go back to Virginia and he wont have his "territory" to roam.
He has been so good to me while Paul has been gone. He takes me on dates, gives me the best kisses, and loves to sing to me.
My dad wonders how I got so lucky to have this little guy in my life....so do I.

My top 5
Top 5 places in St George for CHIPS AND SALSA!
5. My moms homemade salsa. Nothings better than fresh from the garden tomatoes. Customized with a block of cream cheese and a bag of Tostitos.
4. Toro Moro. In years past when Paul and I were first married we would eat here all the time. Im talking every Friday. I always got the same thing, Arroz con pollo with extra arroz. I remember loving their chips too. I need to get my buns over there.
3. Cafe Rio. For 2.50 you can buy yourself some delicious and ever so crispy corn chips and salsa. I like their salsa, don't love it but the chips are the bomb! No refills though...
2. Chili's. Bottomless?! I love that word. I don't even know why I order an entree cause I stuff my face with chips and make sure to order more right before we are finished so I can take them home :)
1. Paula's. One word. SALSA. It is the best there! Its so tomato-y and pepper-y but not spicy at all. I love it!
Can you tell I have been craving this NON STOP since I stopped feeling sick?
I gotta get me some right now! p.s. Camie....dont worry, all I think about is food too.

That movie...

Have you seen this movie yet? If so, what did you think? I have heard alot of mixed reviews but I have to say that this might just be my favorite movie for the moment....
The movie is beautiful, hilarious, romantic, and has big names playing silly characters....I love when they do. Plus Tristan the main guy starts out just plain but gets super hunky as you watch. It was worth my money.

Ohhh Homecoming....
Does this bring back memories for anyone? Look at these 2 prettys. Up top is my sister Summer and bottom is my sis-in-law Tia. It was fun helping them with their hair and pinning dresses together. If I could get this darned scanner to do its job, I'd show some really good (meaning terrible) ones of myself. Ohhhh high school dances. I would just like to take a minute to apologize to my homecoming dates Jared Lamb (jr year) and Brian Buchanan (sr. year) for what a dork you went with. I think back to those times of life and laugh. I hope to have changed a bit since then but my family says I am just as weird as ever. Oh well.

Just reminding you.....
There is 3 days left to sign up for the Favorite Things Swap. A lot have signed up, a lot more need to! In the words of Nike, "Just do it" You wont be disappointed.
Now...go out and enjoy this BEAUTIFUL Friday weather!
And one more thing...Ever since Heidi mentioned she had these at Lake Powell I have been making them nonstop, with a fresh batch this morning. I am pretty sure that we all have this recipe but just in case you don't;
Scotcharoos
bring to boil on the stove top;
1 cup Karo syrup
1 cup sugar
take off heat and add;
1 cup peanut butter
mix until creamy and add;
7 or so cups of Rice Krispies
put into greased 9x13 pan
melt in microwave in 30 sec intervals until creamy;
1/2 bag milk chocolate chips
1/2 bag butterscotch or peanut butter chips (I lean more towards butterscotch but they are both good)
spread on top. Cool and eat eat eat!

I wish....
~That there were no such thing as cavities. Especially for beautiful little girls who think sugar and spice and eveything nice are part of being a princess.
~That I liked eggs. I never have. I cook them every morning for my kids and can make them all sorts of beautiful ways but no matter what I cant gag them down.
~I had kept up my piano skills. There was a time in my life that I could play just about anything. Those days are gone. I sit at my moms piano everyday and plunk out the hymns like a 7 year old. Someday.
~That even when winter comes there would still be one warm day a week where we could swim outside. I already miss the pool, and indoor ones just aren't the same.
~I had kept better in touch with some long lost friends. I know this is bound to happen but I was remembering all the great people that influenced me in past years and that I haven't seen or talked to them in ages. It wouldn't be so hard to track them down, I just need the initiative.
~That there really was world peace. I hope to see it one day.
~That after I wash and fold the laundry so smelly good and neat, it would put itself away. Like some magical Marry Poppins finger snaps.

Babies in Dubai
I had a great last few days. Friday was my first appointment for this babe. I actually do have a little one in there. I listened to that sweet heart beat and felt all the wonderful emotions when you start the process of welcoming a new being into this life. There is nothing better. I am around 15 weeks so the next time I go I will find out what we are having. I'm thinking boy...
Jonah or Ezra.
I got to talk to my love. After 55 days straight at sea, they pulled into Dubai and had 4 days in port. I booked him a hotel room and wished I was there. I was in Pine Valley when he called and said it would cost 3 bucks a minute to talk so I raced to St George and found the cheapest phone card with the longest minutes and called him back. We talked for about an hour and it was wonderful! I miss that man. I love that man. I felt a bit giddy inside, like when you first start to really like someone and cant stop thinking about them. The sparks must still be there.
As much as this is no fun at all, there is also so much good that comes from being apart. Like respect, admiration, love, support....it has been a blessing in disguise. I think.
