life and times

Just enjoying that last bits of summer round here. The weather- awesome. The front porch and Sonic happy hour drinks- marvelous. And the company- couldnt be better.
I love my fam.

Life gets pretty busy (for Paul) in the next few weeks|months so we (kids and I) are headed west in route to the welcoming heat of Utah South in a few weeks for a few weeks. Where I will be hittin up all the yard sales, lasering unwanted facial hair, pretending to be a rodeo queen, and doing what I want, when I want. Bring on Spoon Me and Frost Top{and every other eating establishment} I can not wait.

eat

I really can not wait for it to get dark earlier outside.
You know why?
Because then the dark will be on my side.
Because then kids will be tricked into going to bed earlier.
Because then they will not zonk out at dinner time.
Because then I will not have to force feed.
Because then they will not wake up an hour later wired.
But it does make me laugh.
watch for the hand that waits for food. She lurks in the shadows. I starve that one I do. {not}

Because you want real, potatoes that is.

  • Sometimes when I get on the computer to read new posts, I say to myself, I will comment on every single post I read, sometimes it works but most often I am so annoyed, I just cant.
  • I snap. Way to often. I snap way to often at the people I love the most. Like slapping your baby's hands because she ate your gum. Childish? Childish. Must chill.
  • It ain't no secret. I am totally regretting buying an old home. I haven't a good attitude about it and that is putting a strain on my marriage . And that is just dumb.
  • We lost our kitty. As sad I am about it, I'm happy that I don't have to worry about smelly poop, fleas, and cat food.
  • I want to get a job. Just something to occupy a little time here and there. Maybe at a diner down the street, maybe at Dollar General, maybe at a preschool. I need to meet the people of this town somehow, and staying home all day eating double stuff Oreos ain't the solution. Well, for that problem anyhow.
  • I never have bought a can of pre-made frosting or a box of instant potatoes. I like both of these things, but homemade is so much better for this potato and frosting snob. Although, I will buy pre-made hot dogs in a bun and all....time saving right ;).
  • I am becoming the mother who buys her children a prize every time they go somewhere. Now this needs to change, I realize. But its just so much easier.
  • Over our military career, I neglected my teeth. I hated getting things all set up to go to appointments and deal with insurance (that hasn't changed) but it has come back to haunt me and in the next 2 weeks I will be spending countless hours in a white pleather lounge chair, watching TLC and getting a huge cramp in my mouth keeping it open for 2 hours. Fetch.
  • I am not a go getter. As I sit here, I have been talking myself in to taking the kids to the library. This has been going on for 3 days. I'm not shy, I'm not insecure, I am just...well I don't know. Can you diagnose?

Summer Time

My youngest sis Summer was here last week playing, stuffing our faces, taking diet coke runs, fearing for our lives in severe weather, driving a billion miles, and having a blast!
She left today. And we all cried, well.. Paul pretended. Although a bag of peach rings for the kids, and new bed linens for me courtesy of TJ Maxx eased up the pain a bit. It was Cabellas for Paul and a new pocket knife.
I love Omaha. And Lincoln.
Who volunteers to come and play next?.....
She pulls this look off great. me not so much....
Hanging at the zoo. Omaha's Zoo is AWESOME.
The kids look like naturals (cause they really are monkeys).... me not so much
Asher loves this mask, me not so much.
The girls are getting ready for Husker season....me not so much.

Nemaha couny fayer

This purdy little Mr. took a whack at my shoulder when I wasnt looking....
I couldnt get over the livestock portion of the fair. Its serious business here.
The whole town comes down to Central Ave for the parade for 2 nights. It consisted of a billion firetrucks, tractors in every color and size, and CANDY. Think of your largest tupperware bowl and fill it to the rim with candy, thats how much each kid got. I got me tootsie rolls to last at least until September ;)
Our great friends from Virginia the VanDykes came to play. We had the best time.
What a happenin parade. But where were the Beauty Queens?
Asher wants this for Christmas
If she isnt the cutest....I dont know what is.
The slide of terror.....okay...the puny rip you off 3 dollars slide.
Blick. Pigs are blick.
Auburn Bulldog Cheerleaders.
We love Erin, Izzy an Victoria!
This tractor called a Combine is as big as the Auburn Post Office. And costs twice the price of my house. Asher is in love.
Lets go get some cotton candy already...
