I moved to Hell

.....and Hell Buckeye feels like your standing at the back of an F-16 that has just pushed the throttle at full speed.

I hate the heat.

But Id take it over the snow. So no more whinin...

....cept that my kids are driving me crazy being in the house all day.
....cept that I have yet to find a snow cone shack.
....cept that my flip flops melt walking to the car.
....cept that no matter what- you are always one big sweaty smelly mess.
....cept that scorpians come out to play as the temps rise.that is indeed a scorpian on my kitchen floor.

Memorial

{Monday June 30}

My Dads Father passed away when he was 14.

I like to think he spent his time in Heaven preparing us
for life in the Sandberg house

by keeping us stuffed with Snickers and ice cold Pepsi.
(cause they have those in heaven yes?)
I love to hear the stories my dad and his siblings remember of him.
But when you hear my Grandma talk of her
Wayne Sandberg,

you can hear her love for him in her voice.
A Turkey farmer by trade, he bought acres and acres of land to raise them on back in the 40s.
And because of these acres, in modern day- he made life a bit easier for my Grandma and the 5 kids he left behind.

I know we are all anxious to meet/reunite with him one day.

Years and years later,
My Grandma re-married the man that I called Grandpa,
Joseph E. Stevens.
This young boy who started life on his own at 15.
Working and working and saving every penny he had through the depression.
Joining and retiring from the Army.
Graduating College.
He never stopped going.
He had a passion for Gemology, creating beautiful pendants, bolo ties, rock art, and displays.
The 24 grand kids that he inherited through marriage thought he was the best when he'd make us vanilla ice cream cones and show us the jewels he had created during the week.
Mr Joseph Stevens made it possible for his grand kids to go to college.
Leaving a college fund for each of us when he died.

I know we are all anxious to reunite with him one day.
.....who did you honor on Memorial Day?

Sccchwim

{June 9}
Jace married the right kind of girl.

The kind of girl who my kids love.
The kind of girl who plays with them for hours.
The kind of girl who has them sleep over at her house.
The kind of girl who openly invites us over to swim at all hours of the day.
And by golly do we ever love it her .

college grad

{May 26}
Alright it was just Kindergarten Graduation.

But with things like
balloon bouquets
flowers
blow horns
presents
limousines
and every stinking part of an extended family you can think of
you'd of thought you were attending an
Ivy League College Ceremony.
People are wack.

Its just kinnygarten for heaven sake.
A celebratory ice cream cone from Burger King was good enough.

(parents, pleeeease dont make a fool and do things mentioned above...)
