Corn Husker

Oh ya. It's sweet corn season. That Indian gold sold on the side of the road calls to us every time we pass by . We've been through 2 dozen this week.
Whats a huge perk of having 3 kids?
Child labor.
Shuck those husks!
Do it or die....;)
We eat it raw. Or pretend to....
And one of us uses it as a sword to repeatedly bang things until he gets hungry.
Corn Tips
-boil in water, a splash of vinegar and sugar
-never salt! (toughens kernels)
-sprinkle Parmesan cheese in place of salt when hot.
grill in husks over barbeque
- try mayo, salt, squeeze of lime and chili powder.
-buy as much as you can while its good.
-make offspring do all the hard work.
-love yourself for supporting local farmers, overloading on carbs, and making easy summer dinners.

exterior painting of the homestead is *almost* done.

More of stubborn

Dont let that huge smile of my second born fool you.
Most days are a constant battle of clothes changing, hand washing, toy sharing, quiet time keeping, no stair jumping, sister respecting, and on and on with this 4.5 year old [just like his father] boy.

(Leah captured our days perfectly in this photo)

we were fighting over pants and the brushing of teeth.
But luckily at night, when stubborn is in bed, I creep in his room- then proceed to
kiss, hug and love him to pieces.

And he never even knows
Its what keeps our relationship
golden.
{and his smile so big}

Aftermath

Looks as though we need to work on a little word called
acceptance
round here.
(but oh Id've loved to have another little stubborn Y chromosome)
good thing stubborn comes in all sorts....

seriously

A friend of mine posted this on his facebook page today. Which sparked a bit of a heated debate.

Here was one lady's response in regards to fact/(statement) #1-

"Right, except the part about 50 million babies being "murdered" in abortion clinics. If it can't live outside my body, it's a tumor, not a baby, and no one gets "murdered" when it gets removed. Sorry, but this is a load of right wing propaganda bullshit. Anybody can manipulate headlines and random bits of information to make their point. And where is the author's name on this piece?"

Wow.
That sounds like a load of right winged bullshit to manipulate a headline your way lady.

It got me just a tad bit ticked. This human being inside of me is indeed NOT a tumor. She/he is a beautiful being created in the image of God chosen to come to earth.
And I am honored.

(stay tuned for more happier times)....
