Senses

SEE

Do you know which kind of married couple cracks me up? The kind that will wait in 2 different lines at the grocery store to see which ones makes it first to check out and then the other will move over to the victorious one. Like it is THAT much faster than waiting together.
I watched last night as an attractive 50 something couple with paper plates, napkins, tulips, and Pepsi moved very slowly tapping their feet, and shaking their heads in opposite lines. The lady got to the check out first and the man quickly moved over to her. I was in the middle of them cracking up and watching how irritated they were getting. If you were in a hurry, then why did you go to Walmart at 5:30 pm?

SMELL

Maya has started to take off her diapers when she poops. It is not the most helpful thing and really messing up my- get up, get granola bars and juice, turn on cartoons and then go back to bed routine.

HEAR

I was yelling at the kids the other day for the mother load of a mess in their toy room (always) and was trying to refrain from cursing (hard) "Ahhhh, you kids are such little...."

When Asher turns around, looks me dead in the eye and says "Dont you dare call us twits!"
I was thinking more of something with {SH} rhyming with twits.

Getting the car inspected yesterday, an older, {very nice} grey straggly hair lady with a beanie, puffy coat, and gloves on was reading the mileage when Leah asked from the back of the van--"Hey, are you the bird lady?!"

TASTE

Jasmine rice! Where have you been all my rice cooking life? Im telling you, if you havent made it, then you are missing out on a whole new exotic flavor, sticky but firm, 5 star chinese restaurant worthy grain.
Super Pretzel! 30 seconds in the microwave and this delicious twist of dough dipped in ranch dressing, spicy mustard, or hummus will make your salty tooth smile.
Whats that? You have to have sweet after salty and vice verse like me? Then these should do the trick. Soooo delicious. Recipe here.

TOUCH/FEEL

For our small bathroom re-do, I opted for a bowed shower curtain. Mostly because it was found at my favorite store TJ Maxx and my cart was empty at the moment. But when installed and it came time to shower, it felt 2x bigger in my small shower tub combo! For a meer 12.99 you too can feel luxurious with out the 5 star hotel price :)

Im obsessed with using fabric softener in everything. To simmer on the stove and make the house smell good. To remove wall paper. To soften my towels. But using vanilla and wild orchid softener on Pauls work clothes is probably where I should draw the line. But I dont. He smells really pretty and is very soft to the touch.

2 prettys make a pretty

Growing up we would always attend the local town royalty pageant. Where I learned that Vaseline on teeth makes smiles bigger, the talent part of the pageant is awkwardly fun, and tweens really do want to be Miss America.

But perhaps the lesson I learned most of these small town pageants was a phrase taught to me by a neighbor girl. Watching the parents of the girls participating, she came to this conclusion

"2 uglies make a pretty"

Now, I realize this is a very mean phrase and isn't always necessarily true. But it is a sentence I often think of in the back of my mind when watching Toddler and Tiaras. (yikes)
(and sadly at times the reverse phrase)

this hypothesis was again proved wrong

All right fine- go play

Its no secret.
I am no fan of winter.
You know, winter as in-
blizzards
ice
going crazy
slush
mud
and snow?
Just when we were starting to see all the dog poop in the back yard covered by the snow for 2 months- it snows again. But this time- it was accompanied by 30 degree weather and perfect snow for playing in. Not sub zero temps and frozen ice.
So out we went.
Asher was busy building tower cities

Leah built this snow man, complete with soy sauce and oyster sauce lid eyes

Oh wait- he is missing something....

There we go...all done. He needed a binky if he wanted Mayas approval.

Roses are Red

This bathroom was grey
But shes now white and blue
And looking MUCHO better Id say

We are getting better by the project with this whole home improvement thing.
