Growing up we would always attend the local town royalty pageant. Where I learned that Vaseline on teeth makes smiles bigger, the talent part of the pageant is awkwardly fun, and tweens really do want to be Miss America.
But perhaps the lesson I learned most of these small town pageants was a phrase taught to me by a neighbor girl. Watching the parents of the girls participating, she came to this conclusion
"2 uglies make a pretty"
Now, I realize this is a very mean phrase and isn't always necessarily true. But it is a sentence I often think of in the back of my mind when watching Toddler and Tiaras. (yikes)
(and sadly at times the reverse phrase)
But this week, {2-09-10}
this hypothesis was again proved wrong

Whom I love so much and must weasel my way into a plane ticket to Utah soon.
Oh whats that? you'd like to know 2 uglies that made some prettys huh?

I remember, waaaaaaay back in the olden days, looking at my sister and her husband and wondering how something so beautiful could come from them. Lol
Sadly, the older and fatter I get, the more and more I look like my sister. LOL!!! That's what I get for having such naughty thoughts.
