Since Maya arrived, the question of names has been #1. Whats her name? Whats her middle name? Where did it come from? I love names. I thinks its fascinating that a human can fit so truly the name it was blessed with. Out of the millions that are out there, we get one that fits us so well.
So here is my question to all of you, What is your name? Middle name? And where did it come from? Same goes for your children and spouses. I would love to hear how "you" came about.
Steven Paul. Not many people know that Paul's first name is Steven after his dad. In college and in the military people call him Steven and he doesn't mind it. But to me, Paul is Paul.
Jaesi Lee. I was named after a little girl in my aunts pre-school. My middle name just sounded good with Jaesi, so my mother says.
Leah Giselle. Forever I wanted a Jennah. Paul wanted an Anna. One night in bed we were talking of names and I mentioned Leah. Leah it was. Giselle comes from Paul. Who has a fascination with the beautiful model Gisele Bundchen. It took me a long while to get used to it. Leah absolutely loves her middle name and is quick to add it in when asked her name.
Joseph Asher. Joseph is for my Grandpa, Paul's Grandpa and Joseph Smith. Asher ties in with Leah from the bible and the instant I heard it I loved it.
Maya Deon. Since we had Leah we always mentioned a sister named Maya. Deon is Paul Grandma on his mothers side. I love the way is sounds.
So far, the names I have graced my children with fit them perfect-o. I love the name game.

So fun - I will for sure have to copy this! I love your kids names! You've done good!
I love names too. This is a fun post!
My husband, Robert John, came from his dad being named Robert and his grandpa being named Robert...John comes from who knows where.
Me, Chelsea Diana comes from a magazine clipping of the name Chelsea that my mom had in her scrapbook that she loved and then Diana after Princess Diana, who my mom also loves.
Lachlan Robert, Robert is from the long line of Roberts on the Stephenson side. Lachlan is one we both loved the instant we found it in the baby name book, but come to find out it has Icelandic background and he is 1/8 icelandic! ( Grandma Stephenson is 100% icelandic!)
Your baby is beautiful!! Look at that hair!! I love it. K so i'm dying cuz Avery's middle name was supposed to be Giselle, but at the last minute Erik decided he didn't like it. So we changed it to just Elle. I was soo bummed. I love it. Well my name came from Savannah, Georgia. My parents are from back east and loved the city. My middle name is Lauryl. Yuck my mom just like the name. Erik, was named after a male nurse that helped deliver him. His mom didn't have a name picked out and she looked down at his name tag and said "that will work." His middle name is John. That came from a Grandpa. Avery, was a name we picked together for no reason. We just liked it and Elle well I already told you about that. I love the name Maya!! That was on my list!
Pam....you didnt play the name game! how come you are Pam?
Savannah, I love that your husband is named after the nurse!
And Savannah Georgia is one of our most favorite cities ever!
Chelsea...I have always loved your name...I LOVE the way you spell it. Icelandic huh?
You are too creative! Share the wealth would you? I am too brain dead anymore to be so creative!
Dustin William- Dustin is after Dustin Hoffman (sp?) who I guess his mom was in love with! William was after his great grandpa.
Staci Lynn-My name was suppose to be Shauntel, but when my mom first saw me the name just did not fit. I guess Staci was a last resort! I think it is just another name that she had liked and she thought Lynn went well with it.
Chandler James-Chandler was the ONLY boy name that we could come up that we both liked. NO-it is not after Chandler Bing on Friends! We just thought it was cute, not very common and not too weird. James is after Dustin's Grandpa and my Great Grandpa and we basically just though that it sounded cute with Chandler.
Dylan William- We so struggle with boy names! We finally decided on the name Dylan for sure when he was a day or two old! We knew as soon as we found out that we were having a boy that his middle name would be William. Dustin's middle name is William and he wanted this baby to carry that name on in case we didn't have any more boys.
Sorry for the long comment!
I love to hear where people get their names from...
Steven Scott- The Scott came from his grandpa and his parents just liked the name Steve.
Lindsey- my mom and dad just like the name I guess. My dad wanted to name me Aleisha..but they settled on Lindsey in the end.
Kaden Scott- Scott-from Steve, and Kaden...I just loved the name
Kyler Ross- My dad and grandpa's names are Ross...so it was very fitting...plus I hear that Kyler is exactly like how my dad was as a kid!
Carter Steven- once again after steve! The "carter" wasn't decided until we were at the hospital and saw the little man for the first time!
Holly was the only name my parents could agree on...and Marie...I don't know???
Anna Marie...My mom's middle name is Ann and therefore I took that and came out with Anna and Marie is after me!
I love to hear where they all came from...keep em coming!
How fun!
My husband and Ammon both share the middle name T, yes just T- It's after a bar that was named Michael T's.
Hey Jaesi! This is Amberly(Burton)Christensen. I am so happy to have found your blog and to see your darling family. :-)
Amberly Brooke- My parents really liked the name ashley and kimberly but they wanted something more orginal so they came up with Amberly. And I'm not sure where the Brooke comes from but my Grandpa never called me anything but Brooke so maybe its from him.
Andrew Robert- Andrew is named after his anchestor who joined the chuch in Norway who's name was Anders orignally but changed it to Andrew to be more American when they got to the United States. Robert is his Grandad's name.
Aydan Kent- Since we both had "A" names we thought it would be fun to continue with our son and we just loved the name. Kent is my dad's name.
Check out my blog: http://christensens-castle.blogspot.com/
Amberly, hello! I swear you can find anyone you want on here!
You little handsome is sooo well...handsome! good work!
I played the "game" on my blog. So fun to see where all these names are coming from!
Morgan Barrett, actually his mom liked morgan and his dad liked barrett(or vice versa) so no real reason other than they liked the names........I agree of course
Tiffany Jean, my mom said I whispered her my name when I was born and my middle name comes from my mom(wendy jean, but she has always gone by Jeannie)
Savanna Catherine...I have been in love with the name savanna and my hubby agreed, catherine is mo's g'mas name.
Gracie Jean...my mom had a dream about a dark haired little girl that was ours named Gracie, long before mo and I were together. We ended up loving the name and kept it when my mom told us. Jean, is named after my mom first then me.
Hey Jaesi...I hope you really don't mind that I keep checking in on your blog. I know it's a little late but congrats on your beautiful, sweet little Maya! And talk about a perfect delivery...if only it were so great for us all right?! You look great by the way!
I love all your kids names, and I love, love the name Asher.
Reagan Don-he was born on election day of the Reagan/Carter election...really, but his parents aren't political in any way...funny. And Don is after his Grandpa.
Stefanie- I was named after the actress Stefanie Powers, no middle name because my maiden name was much too long. I was going to be Bryan because they were sure that I was a boy...surprise, surprise!
Smith Reagan- No particular meaning. Although my mom's maiden name was Smith. I just thought it up at work and went home to tell Reag and he said he had been thinking the same thing. Crazy, it's totally out there, but we love it. And Reagan after his dad.
Jones Kent- No particular meaning again, but we had thought about it with Smith. It went along with the "last name" theme and it just sounded like a strong name to us. Kent is after my Dad.
Fun post! You are too, too creative!
You will have to let Leah watch "Enchanted" because the girls name is Giselle. We just watched that at Young Womens.
Anyway, my weirdo name Mik'L came from a girl in Super Steppers named Jan'L and my creative mother just loved that so put that together with Michael which is my dads name. No middle name for me. :(
Clyde was doomed to his name (he's not a big fan) since great-grandpa's on both sides were named Clyde.
Izzy and Zoe (okay they are dogs but they are basically our children!) were just cutesy names I liked. I always wanted to name a girl Isabelle and call her Izzy but Clyde doesn't like that so I had to settle for using it on the dog. For Zoe we just needed a name that went with Izzy and fit her so all the way home after picking her up in Salt Lake we tried out names till I came up with Zoe. Now she's more commonly known as the Zoe monster :)
Fun post.
I'm loving the names! You guys are so cute!
I loved this post!! I love reading everyone's comments too!
stephanie....i love that your boys have last names for first names
mik'l....wouldnt you know that the easter bunny is bringing that movie to Leah? and i always wondered how your spelling came about! cute mom of yours....
tiff....i love your girls middle names.
Fun post Jaesi!
Nicholas Jay- Middle name after his Grandpa.
Rachel Marie- My Dad always wanted a Rachel. He claims I looked up at him in the hospital and told him my name was supposed to be Rachel Marie.
Emily Marie- Love the name Emily and Marie after me.
Karter Kevin- We wanted Kevin for a middle name and Karter fit really well, plus it was one on our list. (I had to fight Nick a little because he really wanted a Chip!)
Wyatt Nicholas- We couldn't agree on any names and one night I saw the name Wyatt somewhere, maybe the newspaper, I mentioned it to Nick and he really liked it! Nicholas after his Dad! (Nick again wanted a Chip...maybe someday.)
ahhhh chip....I remember. I think Chip Ence sounds good!
Bradley Eugene - Eugene is his grandpa's name. He isn't too fond of it, he doesn't tell people his middle name, but I don't think it is bad.
Jamey Nola - My name was either going to be April, or Jamey, (because my birthday is in April), but my dad decided on Jamey. They came up with the name Jamey from Jaime Sommers, the bionic woman. They spelling...all my sisters and my name end with a 'y'. Nola was my grandma's name, it is also my mothers middle name.
Aspen Jean - we both had a girls name that we liked, but the other didn't, so Aspen was the first name that we agreed on. Jean is her grandma's middle name. (I thought about the middle name Nola, to pass on the tradition, but my sister gave her little girl the middle name Nola, so I felt jipped.)
Coleton Bradley - Brad knew a boy named Cole and he thought it was a strong name, (plus the boy was good at sports). I told him that just because he has the same name as them, doesn't mean he will be good at sports, but we will see. We thought that we would make him a more formal name of Coleton. Then Bradley comes from his dad.
Wow - that was long. Great post!
I totally love your little names.
im coming out in nooo time...(: woot woot please provide good groceries.
i always do.....
Fun Post as always Jaesi
Stacy Maye-Maye from 2 great-grandmas and mom...Stacy because I was supposed to be Travis and I guess that was the first name that popped in their heads
Michael Dale-Dale from his grandpa and Michael because his parents like bible names I think
Tyson Jack- Jack after Mike's dad and Tyson because we liked it
Madison Maye- Maye(obvious!) And Madison because I always wanted one...Mike gets to pick the boy names and I get to pick the girl names.
Yep...you for sure have the best names in your fam. I love your your girls' middle names, and especially that Paul named Leah after Gisele The Model. Neil would have an Angelina :)
Remember my comment awhile back when you were trying to decide on a name? I OBSESS over names - I love to hear names. I understand why you picked Maya, because it goes along with Leah...I'm trying to decide on more names, and I don't even have "bread in the oven" yet! Here's the scoop you requested for my family
Cory David - ha, I have no idea why he was named that! I should probably ask, huh!
Natalie Lin - Natalie means "Christmas Child", which seemed rather fitting as my birthday is the day after Christmas & Lin is after my mother Linda
Lillie Lin - Lillie is named after my great grandmother & Lin after me & her grandma Linda.
